Building 1 Renovation

Sheridan, WY: Veteran Affairs Medical Center

This project renovated all floors of the historic Building 1 at the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Building 1 was constructed in 1907 and contained many areas that required asbestos and lead paint abatement. The renovation allowed for the interior of the building to be used as modern office space including two call centers and facility telephone operators. This renovation of an active medical facility required a negative air chamber to be used for infection control of the construction site. GCH followed federal guidelines for ICRA requirements. The renovation also allowed for exterior egress improvements for both fire and ADA access. A backup generator was also installed. This project involved the renovation of the primary building. Over 2,000 SF of concrete SOG lad. Additional work performed was the stripping and refinishing of stairway treads, risers, trim, trailing, and balusters. Electrical work and mechanical work were performed. Utility systems were renovated and modified to the latest construction standards. To accommodate the new construction, the Fire Alarm system and its components were replaced and relocated. Several HVAC upgrades were put in place including new ductwork.
